What We Believe

For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures…
                                                                                                                                                                               1Corinthians 15: 3-4

The Essentials of our faith are:

We believe in the Trinity. God is the Creator and Ruler of the Universe. He has eternally existed in the three persons of the Trinity: God, the Father; God, the Son; and God, the Holy Spirit.

We believe Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God. Jesus left His throne in glory and was born of the Virgin Mary. He lived a sinless life and offered himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on the cross. Jesus rose from the dead and has defeated sin and death. He ascended to heaven and will return again someday to earth to reign as King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

We believe in the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is present in the world today to make people aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He also lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation. The Holy Spirit provides the Christian with power for living and we seek to live under His control daily.

We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God. The Bible was written by human authors, under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the supreme source truth for Christian beliefs and living.

We believe all people are made in the image of God. People are the supreme object of God’s creation. Although every person has tremendous potential and sacred worth, all of us are marred by an attitude of disobedience toward God called “sin”. This sin separates us from God and causes many problems in life.

We believe people must receive God’s gifts of Salvation and Eternal Life. Salvation is God’s free gift to us but each person must accept this gift. We can never make up for our sin by self-improvement or good works. Only by trusting in Jesus Christ as God’s offer of forgiveness can anyone be saved from the penalty of sin. When we turn from our self-ruled life and turn to Jesus, we are saved. Eternal life begins the moment one receives Jesus Christ by faith.

We believe in the process called “Sanctification”. The Christian life is not a “one shot” or “one Stop” experience but is a daily walk with God. Christ calls us to a deeper life and holy life. We continue each day to be cleansed and renewed by the power of the Holy Spirit as we become the people God wants us to be.

We believe in Eternal Life. People were created to live forever. We will either live eternally separated from God by sin (hell), or we will live eternally with God in heaven because of the forgiveness and salvation given to us through Jesus Christ.
